It has been a good week, completing some maintenance tasks and catching up with family and friends, in particular enjoying a great little sail with my sister Jenny and her husband Colin yesterday. And, most importantly, Oli has been given a clean bill of health to continue our travels.
So, at 0740 this morning, with a light breeze blowing across the dock, I wasted no time, cast off our lines and proceeded to sea to make the most of the day and the beginning of our passage to Melbourne. Unfortunately, the light breeze in the marina proved to be a beguiling deception, perhaps the remnants of an overnight land breeze, for once we had cleared the Outer Harbour breakwaters the breeze disappeared and we have been motoring for most of the morning.
However, at 1100 a light breeze started to fill in from the SSE and we have now hoisted the big red code zero, shut down the BRM and are making good a speed of just over four knots, admittedly in not quite the right direction, but we are sailing.
All is well.
