Family celebrations completed, university essays submitted, one last hurrah at Mark’s last Sunday, and now that we have a fair forecast, we are underway, returning to Wollongong with Kate and The Cat still on board.

We had a quiet night last night to  ensure the crew were well rested for a relatively early start.  Up at 6.30, a cup of tea and forecast checked, the anchor was aweigh by 07.40.  The wind fresh from the north, we ran square down the bay, negotiated the Western Channel, then reached to the heads.  Our timing was perfect with the notorious Rip calm and sedate as we passed over its cragged depths then, once clear of Point Nepean, we bore away to the south east, the wind backing nor’ westerly, so thee jib is poled out again, and we are now running wing on wing for Wilson’s Promontory.

All is well.
