Upper deck maintenance continues - I am attending to most of the little rust spots, the bigger rust problem adjacent the dodger is awaiting materials, but today I also attacked another area which has long been needing attention, the mount for the port jib sheet winch. The starboard one I attended to a couple of years ago and it seems to be holding up well with only a little bit of rust showing around the bolt holes on the underside.

Starting these sorts of jobs invariably requires a bit of overcoming a natural inclination to put off to another day, but I bit the bullet, removed the winch from its mount and started to hammer away at the rust beneath.

I have made good progress with this and with a little luck will have it all back together again in about four days if it doesn’t rain.

All is well.
