Just a quick Christmas update prior to the big race day tomorrow (this post
was sent Christmas Day but did not get through).
Last Saturday Chris and I took Sylph out to try out the new spinnaker in
some light winds and I am pleased to say that it all went well; with a set,
a gybe, and a drop going smoothly and only a few minor tweaks to make to the
lines. Tomorrow morning we have a couple of media interviews first up with
ABC radio and TV, then the final weather brief after which we are free to
get under way. First we will make a short stop at the RANSA dock where I
believe the customary presentation of a bottle of rum will be made to the
ship's company. Then a final tidy up before heading out through the milieu
of the spectator fleet to the start line.
Hopefully, I will be able to report that Sylph is ready in all respects.
All is well.
