Sitting out in the middle of Bass Strait, plunging, gyrating, and rolling
around, while going nowhere in a hurry for some thirty-six hours, is now
paying dividends. The gentle breeze of yesterday morning has freshened. It
is now from right astern, and has strengthened to a strong breeze of about
25 knots. The seas have built up and the windvane is doing a sterling job
keeping Sylph steady on course as the rollers slip under her counter.

I was hoping to visit my brother in Melbourne and, more importantly, my
little niece, but with the slow start to this little voyage, and now with
the firm fair breeze blowing, I have decided to bypass Melbourne this time
round, so as to ensure we make it to Adelaide in good time for Christmas. I
am disappointed that I will not get to see them this time around, but maybe
on the way back.

All is well.
