Yesterday was mostly a day of no wind or light south easterly head winds. I tried to sail a number of times, but each time after about twenty minutes the wind would disappear and leave Sylph wallowing in the wash of the passing motor boats that frequent the channels of the Gulf Islands. However, with the need to pick up my passport in mind I pressed on under motor to arrive in Ganges at half past three in the afternoon, just as a fresh north westerly change was kicking in; a pity it had not arrived a bit sooner. In Ganges I was fortunate to have a free berth on offer at the public boat harbour. A friend I made during the cruising rally had arranged it with the wharfinger (as a dock manager is known in these parts). As mentioned in yesterday's post, I was intending to press on to Sidney today, but Jaqui has offered to drive me to Victoria, an offer I have gratefully accepted as the location of the courier office where I need to pick my passport up from is out in an obscure suburb somewhere and looks quite complicated to get to. So this will save a fair bit of messing around and will make for an interesting change from sailing.

Thank you Jaqui.

All is well.
