We leave Ko Lanta and sail dead downwind on a 25 mile
rolly passage to Panwa Beach in Chalong on Phuket.
We are close to a luxury hotel where 59 rich foreign tourists are doing
quarantine having flown in on several charter flights. Dinner with friends
ashore, some provisioning and we head north to Yacht Haven which is home to
many superyachts the better of which measure about 200 feet on deck. Of course
Wild fox anchors outside in the cheap seats.
The current is strong which makes life interesting but I have been here
before and so know what to expect.
This year’s re-fit is at an advanced stage of planning but my favourite spot of Boat Lagoon is right off the list based just on price. In southern Thailand in Satun I can have the same services and skills base for half the money albeit in surroundings not nearly as nice. But in these strained financial times money is money.
The only thing is Satun is close to Amarin’s family. If she thinks she is going to escape cleaning and polishing she just better think again…
