I leave Boat Lagoon on the first tide after the boat show.  All of the show boats are pouring out of the marina next door and because it is 1000 the 30 knot three engine speed boats with 45 tourists aboard are also pouring out and being driven by idiots.  The narrow dredged channel is chaos.

When I am passing Ao Po marina a few miles north I spot all 300 feet of mv Tranquility at anchor.  Formerly called Equanimity this boat was seized from a Malaysian financier who had embezzled US$ 1 billion from a Malaysian development fund.  It was in the care of the Bousted Yard beside me when I was in Langkawi being looked after by the coast guard who said in a press release “It’s a bit posh for us; if you know anybody who wants to buy it call this number…”  But the maintenance costs were a cool US$ 750,000 a month.  The famous brokerage of Burgess sold it at auction for a fraction of its value for just US$126 million.

Wild Fox motors on (no wind) and anchors outside Yacht Haven marina which is home to some huge and lovely boats.
