After my good southerly blow I was still making good progress when once again my self steering broke. The steering of Wild Fox was always heavy. I now accept too heavy and have entered into dialogue with the designer about the alterations I made when the boat was being built. At this stage I have 255 nm to go and with hand steering am happy to make 50 miles a day. Yesterday I did 75 and crossed the Tropic of Capricorn at 1100 local time. Clever me!

The water temperature is now over 26 centigrade and climbing. But the weather looks uncertain with rain squalls about each with more than 30 knots of suddenly arriving wind.

Wild Fox does not like rain squalls...
