Savusavu

On the way to Savusavu I did not catch a fish of more than 25 kilos but a fish bigger than that caught my lure and broke my 25 kilo breaking strain leader line. At the Copra Shed marina I get a mooring - too tight to anchor in here. So tight that peeing over the side would be inappropriate. A lovely young girl called Dolly Singh efficiently runs things ashore. Arriving on 4th July I discover, to my horror, that some Americans are having the audacity to celebrate Independence Day. On behalf of King George I round them up and arrest them on charges of treason and terrorism. For the amusement of the locals they will be hanged at noon on Sunday.

There are always a lot of boats here and so I am spoiled for choice for eateries and beer drinking spots. Very different from the previous almost deserted islands. The yacht club, part of the marina complex, is used solely to promote sailing to young people. Their main source of income is from their bar. So every beer I drink is helping disadvantaged children.

I may stay a while...
