Blissful Ko Phayam

We make the Sun Resort our headquarters.  The Hippie Bar is quaint but too many hippies and dangerous to walk around after a few beers with all the rough driftwood and hundreds of steps at different levels.  No health and safety here; just common sense.  The Sun organizes water, showers, laundry and motor bikes – the only way to get around.

The island seems to be 100% Buddhist with little shrines everywhere you go. The anchorage is blissfully calm except there is no wind on this side of the island.  Nice wind on the east side but too rough to anchor.  Well, you can’t have everything.  I watch a ferry come in.  Its main cargo seems to be beer.

A crowd of us are off out tonight to celebrate the New Year at cruiser’s midnight – 2000. And then tomorrow I am off to Ko Chang six miles north.  It is even less developed…
