Burmah may be a poor country but no expense is spared in preserving the pagodas and temples.  Each has been built for some particular reason and the stories, especially the ones from two or three hundred years ago are amazing. Shwedagon is technically a stupa as it contains relics of Buddha himself – four hairs from his head.
And the Golden Rock  floated up from the bottom of the sea and flew a couple of hundred miles before perching in its present spot.
