Arrived in Australia

Bang on schedule I arrive at the outer sandbanks at 0400 just a light is coming up. The wind is against the current and it is quite rough. Shipping comes in by a different channel but the two converge further on. Fun when looking at three ships doing 15 knots on a converging course with you. But it all works out. I get into the river and arrive at the  marina at 1215. The flood tide is still running at 1.25 knots and there is 20 knots of wind behind me. Luckily I get a berth facing into wind and current, get berthed and 20 minutes later customs are aboard.

Australian border guards had a bad name. But that is a thing of the past. These two ladies could not have been nicer. Next, quarantine. Very thorough, very professional and again very nice. Having a wooden boat I get a close inspection for termites.

There are some mega yachts here including my old friend Plan B complete with helicopter. Ashore are two 70 foot racing yachts which bring a whole new dimension into getting rid of money. And then some ordinary people like me.

It is a public holiday today because of G20. Most Brisbane people have given up and left town because of the security measures and road closures. There isn't a hotel room to be had for miles around. Once I get G20 out of my hair I will be able to organise my haul out and all my other fun plans for the big pink island. Which, by the way, is not pink.

Perhaps I will have to wait until I get to Ayres Rock...
