Thursday was the right day to leave. Windy and blustery but all in the right direction. But with the wind coming off the Tasman Sea it is cold. Each day I check the water temperature - it is slowly rising. My self steering lines parted but I soon had that fixed at the expense of a cut finger and some bruising to my ribs - the new wind generator made access at sea difficult!

The new water generator is pushing out more juice than I can use. If I switch on the wind generator as well I will have to transfer the surplus to the New Zealand grid!

There are a lot of boats on the morning radio net - traffic takes 45 minutes but with bad weather 700 miles ahead nearly 30 boats have stopped at Minerva Reef to let the system pass. This will cause a traffic jam as we all arrive in Fiji in close formation!

I think I have now got rid of the last of my New Zealand stow away flies. In the meantime progress is good but I am not pushing anything as I do not want to meet the weather ahead. The boats that left early to go to Vanuatu have taken a pasting up north.

Wild Fox does not like taking a pasting...
