Week Forty at Sleeping Indian

Sunday the 20th. Popped down to see The Egg Master in action and returned with a trio of perfect eggs and watch an episode, Bear followed soon after with glorious egg events. We both felt somewhat glum as Christmas will be this week and we should be home ready to enjoy the season with the family who still maintain we should stay put in relative safety.

Bear collected the Christmas decorations and tree from Beez and insisted I get creative……. Still glum but managed the task. Table and above patio doors.

Monday the 21st. Housework all day for me. Bear fixed the shower base edge tiles.

Tuesday the 22nd. Shopping today took us to Hendersons to order the car port roofing, a couple of hardware shops and the supermarket. We had a message to say that Indian Summer (Ian, Melian and crew member Angel had safely arrived to Jolly Harbour from The Canaries - jubilant, tired with a few broken bits and bobs but thrilled to be here. Shopping put away I finished the last little bit of the drive, Yay.

Wednesday the 23rd. A very dull start to the day but there was a rainbow over Breakaweigh (Canadian with Liz and Jim aboard). Bear cut the tiles to do the wall edges of the garden shower, I cooked the turkey and put some chicken wings in and cooked some sausages for snacks. Great joy when we welcomed Indian Summer and ate with a few celebratory sherbets…..

Thursday the 24th. We had no hard boiled eggs in the fridge so it was an ideal excuse to have some for breakfast and replace the fridge supply. Bear finished the garden shower tiles. I primed the underside of the car port. Lucy came by (next door but one) and handed over a gorgeous looking cake and our only Christmas card, how wonderful.

Indian Summer dropped in for drinks and we all watched an interesting girl pass by at a very, very jaunty angle.

Friday the 25th. Merry Christmas to One and All.

We spent the morning preparing for lunch, during a breather I bade Bear don his Christmas hat and by half twelve we were ready to welcome Indian Summer. Bear had changed and now had a beer in hand. Ian on the phone to his daughter in Australia and Angel.

Melian somehow purloined Bear’s hat, I had my trusty antlers on and we both got glasses from Melian’s store of the glittery additions.

At two we settled to traditional Christmas fare with fizz and wine.

Jim and Liz (Breakaweigh) came in the afternoon and we were each given a famous name to guess. The day passed by in a flash.

Angel took these pictures of the Beezers and Summers. Ian and I clearly didn’t get the memo to take our ‘famous names’ from our hats.

Saturday the 26th. I couldn’t think of a reason not to begin the day with eggs……. A fun messenger call began at seven thirty with Bird, Joe, Miffy and an assortment of grandbabies, dogs, disguises, woggly eye contest (won by Joe of course) and lots of laughter. Amazing how fast two and a half hours speeds by. Bubble and Squeak in the oven by one and guests at two. Beezers, Summers and Breakaweighs settled to bubble, cold meats, salad and afters of Lucy’s delicious cake and ice cream. Later, Bob and Bev (Icarus) popped in for drinks.
