Failed Lunch - Russian Bay

This morning we woke to a really, really low tide. The local boat we had watched as she entered the bay yesterday, was sitting quietly on the beach.

Other smaller craft were also on the beach.

After breakfast, I wrote a blog, Bear fitted the newly welded swim ladder to the stern platform and then we met for a game of backgammon over a loaded cappo. I won, Yay. Growling. As it was too early to go ashore for lunch, we had our daily game of Mex Train Doms. After a corking start I just hung on for a win. Growling incredibly loudly....... Off we set to the beach restaurant (far right) that Paul came to tell us about.

The tide was still out, lots of beach.

Bear put out Baby Beez anchor (Beez Neez second from right).

The clonking we hear from time to time is a chap fixing a sizable hole, port side of the lady on the right.

I bimbled a bit further to take a closer look at a small fishing lady.

Very strong, slim, with an outrigger.

Love the anchor.

We are welcomed by Peter (four in October with terribly rotten milk teeth). Owned by Andreas (from Austria), married to a local lady but not serving lunch today. In fact they need a day or the morning for an evening meal of fried fish, rice and salad. No food tomorrow as Andreas is off to Nosy Be on a shopping run. We settle for a beer and a chat.

Peter’s mum carried on with her siesta as did the dog.

The roof of the restaurant is held up by a gorgeous weave of wood. As we learned more about the bay from Andreas a young couple came for a beer. They have just joined the chaps dad to sail via Mayotte, Tanzania en route to Richards Bay and on to their home port of Mossel Bay. Ten minutes later a husband and wife (French )from a catamaran came over for a chat. They are heading to South Africa too. Getting quite hungry, we bade our farewells and headed back to Beez.

En route we stopped to take a closer look at the repair in progress. After Bear had wolfed down a egg, mayo and salad wrap he donned snorkel stuff and went to clean the brown beard from the big girl. I set about making half a rabbit stew.
