Day 11 to Richards Bay, South
Africa
05:34. I woke this morning to a much nicer sea and a sky
brightening by the minute.
Along with Des’s weather email
(encouraging us get on with it), came one from Sue at Mailasail, an advisory
that we were down to thirty minutes left in the Sat phone. We left Madagascar
with 234 minutes and I had thought that plenty but repeated reconnections and
the Sat phone not playing nice with Outlook Express and that creature throwing
hissy fits....... By the time I had reported our position to Des and asked Sue
for a top up we had just eleven minutes left...... Randomly I checked our time
at 13:30 UK time to find six hundred and seven minutes. What a star lady and to
do that for us on a Sunday. We will never ever forget that
kindness.
12:17 the sea was
wonderfully calm and the current hoofed us along.
A nice day followed by good winds and
current. I had an eventful 18:00 – 22:00 (it always happens in that shift).
Thunder and spectacular lightning all around, gusts to 38 knots but all went
well. In fact it was the brightest lightning I have ever seen, so much so, I had
to shut my eyes to preserve my night vision. Bear came on to get 11.9 for a few
seconds – I only managed 10.9........
Very pleased to say we are now
just thirteen nmiles off the entrance to the port. Yehaa.
ALL IN ALL BEGINNING TO FEEL
VERY PLEASED
