Spuddling About in the Shallows of Russian Bay

We set off to the far end of Russian Bay.

The scenery is quite dramatic.

We headed over to visible rocks, beyond had we turned right, we could have followed an inlet for quite some way but it was too shallow for Baby Beez. This side of the rocks we checked out areas of old reef but other than a few fish in dull browns we saw no new growth or anything worth snorkelling over. On we went.

Wonderful palm trees on the shore.

One and three quarter miles from Beez in the south-west corner of the bay.

Mangroves all around the edge.

A heron. Soft mud and very shallow, Bear had to put the outboard up at an angle.

Further round things got rockier.

The tide was out when we saw a sign, I went to investigate.

I hopped out and made it a little way toward the sign but the mud was gloopy. Shudder. Not for me. The sign didn’t help. We had tried to find the old Russian wreck but clearly this side of the bay is too shallow for a big boat. Next time we come we will try the inlet opposite the anchorage.

We left the mangrove and headed back to Beez. Using my observation bucket to check out all the rocky bits as we crossed the bay further along, but again, just old reef and a few fish. On the morrow we are moving over to Sakatia Island, hopefully we will have the internet. We could stay here in Russian Bay for ages but.......missing contact with the outside world.

ALL IN ALL WE STILL HAVE A WRECK TO FIND
                     A BIT OF FUN
