New Ears Trip to Belin, South
Carolina
Here we are on the 1st of January 2012
at seven thirty, a bright, crisp morning with haze over the
river
Tom was aboard sipping a beer as the two casino
boats came in, we remembered seeing them on our way north. Tom told us that is a
federal and a state law that gambling can only occur outside the three mile line
at sea. Later I looked up Aquasino and found that she
is a Casino Cruiser based in Little River, South Carolina and is open daily from
11am and 7pm. The casino cruise's 10,000 square foot gaming space featuring
three hundred and seventy five gaming machines, twenty-four table, poker games
and a restaurant.
I was just enjoying the peace, quiet
and beauty of my surroundings when the skipper piped up we must be further south, the trees look much
greener. “Maybe it has something to do with them being evergreens –
you Numpty”.
Have you ever seen a portable
solar-powered lamp used with such accuracy and force.
Bear has.
And so early in the
year.
Duck Bear, Duck.
Last night we talked to the family,
midnight (New Year) in the UK was seven o’clock to us. Bear was absolutely
helpless with laughter when Martin said “Do you want me to tell you what it’s
like”. Wet eyed all evening and kept chuckling to himself. We fell asleep to the
sound of fireworks off in the distance and no hint of the forecast
gale.
Another new one on us was this bridge all parceled up

I got back to enjoying my bit of nature watching, thinking the
wise owl had little to do at this time of year when I saw this osprey –
spring cleaning her nest ???
Yep – definite
tidying

I heard myself say to this bridge master, “Nice Swing, Sir” well it is New Year – what’s that got to do with
anything.......
