Monday the 2nd of September. Five thirty this morning, as is becoming a bit of a habit, I watched the sunrise. If I’m lucky I get a couple of hours sleep before real wake-up time. Very tranquil and peaceful though.

Behind us Canace looked particularly pretty.

Chores this morning, Kevin and Irma over to lunch and fun refreshing our guests on the backgammon field. We went ashore this evening to the Sakatia Lodge for supper with the crew of FOB (Four On Board is the polite meaning, there is another.....). From left to right: Jane, Robin, Bear, Tracy, Kevin, Craig and Irma.

I do so love the stunning weave of the roof here.

The wall lamps looked like they were wearing hula skirts.

The serviette was folded in such a way that the spoon became the head of a person wearing a trouser suit. My overwhelming thought was that of a hand.... Starter was cold asparagus soup, followed by chicken and rice, then lemon tart. On Beez we had eaten and assumed we would make a poor attempt – so delicious we all cleared our plates – double stomping tomorrow then....... Such a fun evening, always easy with a group of South Africans. Then came the journey home.

Much giggling as the two dinghies had to be lugged a very long way across the beach at very, very low tide. To find enough water below to mince across the turtle grass and back to the yachts took some time. Laughter all the way.

Tuesday the 3rd. We left Sakatia late morning, I did the laundry as Bear took the watch – autopilot behaving beautifully. At midday I was called out to wave at three monohulls and two catamarans heading from whence we had come. The cats were Icarus (on the left) and Nauti Nauti. Must catch up with Allen and Patricia soon, last seen for a game of Mex Train with The Scotties at Rebak Marina at the beginning of the year.

A local, at speed, coming in beside us to Crater Bay.

We tried to anchor between the marina buoys but the various noises had me running back to where we were the first time we visited. This lady came in, she is becoming a familiar sight. Sadly, the boat that clonks terribly was in our spot so we went further on.

ALL IN ALL A SMASHING TIME
