As you can see from the title we had a change of plan and decided not to stay in Tennant Creek after all. We had planned three days there and had been told that it is a nice town with a fair bit to do including trail riding in the bush on horseback which we both wanted to do. However, when we arrived we saw a different town. Ok, it was Sunday, and all the shops etc were closed in town, but it really wasn't very nice at all so we decided to press on to Barkly Homestead, a roadhouse about 200km further on our route. This turned out, thankfully, to be one of the nicest we have seen so far, and after a beer and a burger we headed to bed having had a re-think of our plan. We now think we will head back to the east coast as soon as we can and spend more time there.
On the way today we,
Crossed the Tropic of Capricorn,
Visited the UFO capital of Australia - lots of very weird stories here,
And saw the Devils Marbles, lots of precariously balanced rocks in a pile!
