This place was recommended to us as a perfect beach stop off with great restaurants, and fabulous shops, great timing just before Xmas!
The drive here was easy again. Apart from getting a bit concerned when the satnav took us across country, on some narrow, unsealed roads through farmland, we made it safely. Even the quiet country lanes have 100km/hr speed limits so you can make good time getting anywhere, and there are hardly any cars.
The campground we are in now is very different, much busier for a start. The first site they gave us was tiny though and we wouldn't have fit our tent on it. Another visit back to the office secured us a corner, shaded spot which is great. The birds are much quieter as we are in a much more urban area, and the flies are far less, which is also a definite improvement - we can eat dinner with the light on the table switched on. In our previous place we had prawns and local bugs, lobstary, crayfishy things for dinner and they are almost impossible to shell and eat with just the night light setting on the lantern!
When we arrived, we wandered into Noosa to check out the options for a Xmas day lunch, only to find, as expected, half the restaurants were shut, and the other half were full, so plan B. Long lunch Xmas Eve in a restaurant, and Xmas day on the beach with a BBQ afterwards. Off to the supermarket.
That evening we had the unexpected pleasure of catching up with Andy and Ruth, one of the couples we are meeting for New Year, who also happened to be in Noosa as part of their trip. We had a very nice time drinking wine on their terrace before heading out for dinner.
The next day was Xmas eve, and after a few last minute bits of shopping, including the 'shrimps for the barbie' we went into town for lunch, anticipating a spot of shopping afterwards. Alas, the long lunch meant we couldn't be bothered and we just headed home for a snooze instead!
Xmas day dawned hot and bright - perfect for the beach. After traditional bacon sandwiches, with BBQ'd toast, we set off to the seaside. We then 'chucked a shrimp on the barbie, and opened a tinnie' for our starter before BBQ'd lamb shoulder and roast potatoes - we are getting quite good at using the BBQ for all kinds of things now - give us three months of it and we will be experts. We had a really nice day and in the evening caught up with friends and family at home who were just starting their day.

Xmas dinner - Aussie style!

There will be more pics, I hope, in future posts. I just haven't got used to being out and about again and taking them!
