We have been celebrating!

Celebration 1: Coronation Day

We marked King Charles’ coronation yesterday, Firstly we needed an appropriate setting:

The table is dressed.

( Hmmm.  That looks like a coffin dressed for a burial at sea! Does anyone know how SOMEONE is? – or WHERE? Ed.)

Then we needed an appropriate meal

Coronation Chicken – a la Terry

Then we washed it all down with a fine Scottish malt in recognition of the fact that he is King of Scotland too!

Celebration 2: Street Party

Small problem – No street!   However, we did distribute Alms to the needy.

Alms can take  the form of money or goods.  On Serendipity we distributed Duvets to the crew (‘cos its getting nippy at night!)

Celebration 3:  Whoopee

Progress has been good the last 36 hours,  We are still keeping as far north as we can to try to keep in the wind.  So while we have sailed 172 miles though the water in the 24 hours to Noon today  (Hooray!)  – because we are heading NE we have made good only 151 miles towards Horta (Boo!).  That notwithstanding ……

This is a picture of our chart plotter at circa 18.15 UTC:

1000 miles to Horta! Hooray!

So we are over half way – and now have to make good less than 1,000 miles.  The grey line on the plotter is the course we’d like to steer (about 070 true) but we aren’t close enough to motor all the way in so – as you can see – we are still heading about 025T to keep in the wind while we can.  We expect the wind to die overnight and tomorrow we will probably be motoring – still not direct to Horta – probably about 050T, again in search of a sailing breeze.

Well that’s about it.

God Save the King!

No, really ….
