The day started with sails wheezing and flapping as the wind slowly dropped and we could no longer carry our twin headsails. At 8am watch change the decision was made to fly our Asymmetric Cruising chute,  the one with the big frog.  Now normally this would be a moment for some comedy capers but to our surprise and delight we managed to fly big froggie at first attempt and as soon as she filled, Serendipity responded by adding a couple of knots to her dismal overnight pace.  We wondered how long we would be able to keep the chute up and the answer is that as I write this at 10pm London time Froggie is still there, the wind has freshened a little and we are bowling along at a steady 8.5 knots and fast approaching our half way point.

In fact it is a most beautiful evening,   We had dinner at about 7.30 our time, it was twilight and the moon was just staring to rise from behind the clouds on the far eastern horizon. It’s just past full moon so this huge golden orb is hanging in the sky with a light that you could read by, the sea has flattened so we are not rolling so much and the sky is filled with those puffy trade wind clouds and of course a million stars.  Behind Serendipity  her wake streams out into the distance as we seem to glide along.  It is a most beautiful evening that no photo could capture. You have to be here to see it.

Life is good.
