Cards on the table ….the view in the saloon when I rose for breakfast ……

We duly paid homage, sang Happy Birthday and agreed a day of rest, (It’s Sunday after all), so limited sail changes etc. This afternoon saw a visit from a Dalek relative:

Inside the Tardis earlier today

Then released on deck at tea time – Happy Birthday Peter!!

70? Phew!

AAhh! Yes! Happy Hour

Suffice to say, a Double Happy Hour to celebrate  -  fortified by some Glenmorangie that Terry procured for the purpose.   Jenna decided a team photo was in order and so Terry leaned into the shot – and spilt his shot – leading to much merriment!

The Chocolate Mouse

We found a stranger on deck this morning, with that:  “Chocolate?  Search me Guv!!” kind of air. He was hungry: Motive; arrived while we are asleep: Opportunity

That crook  neck makes him look shifty , doesn’t it.

His brief keeps pointing at the lack of evidence putting him inside the fridge at night – no DNA, no chocolate stains on his feathers, Never mind: “Bang to Rights,  I reckon!” (whatever that means.).

Progress report

The glacial phase of our perambulation continues.  Our pattern of  160-180 miles run each day has been broken – well, shattered frankly -  we having made good just 90 miles in the 24 hours to noon today. The weather forecast this morning was a carbon copy of the one we received yesterday  - So we expect the wind to die out completely by tomorrow evening.

Well, …….. Donk on!

By then we might be 650 miles from our destination – just about donkable but we will need to refuel pretty soon thereafter.  HOWEVER, our trusty shore support group (aka Mike Thompson) has contacted a yard in Barbados – just 550 donking miles down the track from tomorrow – where we should be able to refuel, and wait for the wind to fill in next weekend  then sail to and arrive in the Windward Islands with pretty much a full tank!!  Sounds like a plan!

Oxymoron Alert!

Jenna, she of the tracksuit and fleece on watch, has continued to wear this kit on watch -  every night, without let nor hindrance - when lesser mortals were sweltering in the heat!

To be fair, it hasn’t been all that warm at all, really. ”It wasn’t like this in my day!” said Peter. And the butter didn’t melt at all as predicted  – well …. not until yesterday, and that is also the day on which  I chose to have a cold shower in order to cool down – for the first time this trip!  Quite what aspect of global warming that may or may not be I don’t know but – at last  - common sense has prevailed: Jenna used an Oxymoron! (You can get had up for that. Ed,)

!I was too hot last night!” she  said.   Wow!
