Satellite communications are working

Today I managed to get my new Iridium Go satellite hotspot connected to the boats antenna and working. When we are at sea and out of contact with the normal world I will use this to update on progress and all things Spectra related. Once on shore I will update the usual share the dream blog with pictures etc.

This system is much better that the mail a sail that I was using to plot our positions on previous trips as it should give a position update every hour plus you will be able to see what kind of weather we are in, hopefully not scary weather.

This link should take you to Spectra’s new GPS tracking page.

Jan came aboard this afternoon and will be settling into the forward cabin when he comes back this evening. Petr is due to join us on Sunday and we are still planning to depart on Monday about 1300.

The weather is all over the place but nothing too strong wind wise. I suspect that we will have to motor for at least a day but we will see what the weather gods have in store for us.

I strongly suspect that we will be spending Christmas at sea as all of the prediction models have us arriving late on Christmas day or even on the 26th.

As Peter Duke used to say its not a holiday it is an adventure.
