LAND HO! At about 1030 this morning we sighted  Lanzarote the volcanic mountain in the north of the island climbing out of the sea on the port bow, the magic box (GPS) works!! The wind then died a little making our anchorage look a frustrating sail away but not for long the trades came back and we continued on at 6-7 knots. We anchored in the south of the island of Graciosa (north of Lanzarote) in Francesca Bay just on sunset at 1750hrs, appropriately named as Francesca is the name of our vineyard back home! Here we will catch up on a bit of sleep and tidy up after 4 days at sea, not that things get too bad but where does the dirt come from? The decks always seem to be covered in it. Morocco I guess.

The trade winds were at their best last night, As good as it gets, from the Northeast at up to 25 knots, making for a fast and vigorous sail, we ended up with 2 reefs in the main and a bit of genoa furled away and still ripped a wake in the sea at up to 8+ knots. The moon is getting out of bed pretty late now making for a very dark night, only one ship sighted so no dodging to keep the watch on their toes. We changed our watch system to enable the offwatch to get a bit more sleep, 4 hours on 4 hours off seemed to work well and we both feel refreshed this morning

Had a line out all day but only caught a small tuna which we released.
