...jenny poled out one side and mainsail held out on the other - this is our reward for the last 48 hours! The first night at sea around Ushant was hard work - partly because it was the first night at sea and partly because it was blowing and the seas were rough.
Yesterday we sailed on rounded the corner and gybed onto the other tack. The sun shone and the dolphins came to see us, lots of them playing around the boat. The seas were still moderately rough and we made good progress in the cold northerlies pushing us south. Last night on watch the Milky Way was wonderful and the dolphins were still with us, playing in the phosphorescence caused by our wake.
Tom has been a complete star as has the autopilot as Mark has been pretty seasick for a day and a night but is now feeling better after bacon and eggs.
This morning we have been practising with poled out headsails for downwind sailing.
