A fabulous day on the ocean!  It all started with little promise, no wind and glassy seas and dawn found us under motor, stealthily seeking some natural driving force. Around 0700, I downloaded a GRIB file, and no sooner had I loaded it into our nav software, the gentle westerly wind we had ben trying to get north to, stared to materialise.

Finally after more than a week of sailing to windward, with all that that entails (mainly being heeled over) here was the prospect of faster, more comfortable downwind sailing. And as the day got older, it got better and better.  The clouds above parted, the wind clocked further and further left, until at 1030 we hoisted the spinnaker.

We have just taken it down for the night...tonight has been nominated "film night", and the downwind style upright demeanor of P means that a more complex menu can be intoduced for tonights supper... but we have covered more than 50 miles under the black kite.

There are still 440 miles to go to Vigo, but my forecast indicates that the next 2 or 3 days could be similar to today. Bring it on!

Supper is:

Chicken and mushroom in a cream sauce, garlic saute potaoes and green beans.

The crew is well (fed), and no issues.
