Mayreau is only a few miles west of the Tobago Cays, and is a very small, under developed island. Not a great deal of tourist activity and one of the very few Caribbean islands which has yet to build an airstrip.

Our anchorage is a wide bay, with a delizghtful, idyllic white sand beach and we are sitting about 150 yards from the softly rolling waves as they lap the beach edge. There is a dinghy dock, a few beach shelters and a couple of beach bars. The sky is clear and blue and the wind is cooling.

At the top of the island, accessed by a single concrete track, is the Mayreau church, with its water catching system and the view over the Cays to the east. Its a magical scene.

At the moment, we are staying in Mayreau as the short term forecast is for strong winds which might make the relatively unsheltered anchorages in the Tobago Cays a little uncomfortable.

We are here with the Silver Linings and the Ena Vigos, and are hoping to catch up with the Win2Wins very soon as they work their way south from Martinique.

It was pre dinner drinks on Silver Lining last night, and one of Karens impressive pressure cooked curries afterward. Tonight, i think we might have a beach barbecue, set up by the boat boys.....
