A good fresh NW wind, F4 gusting 5, would have taken us all the way around Capo Carbonara if we had left early enough, but we had to shop and with one thing and another did not get away until just after 2.00 pm. Turning ESE after rounding the harbour breakwater and it became comfortable with the wind and swell following. We sailed under reefed genoa at an average of 5 knots for the 20 miles to Villasimius, and good harbour just before the Cape. The wind blew strongly until 4 in the morning. We were in bed by 9, tired but pleased after a good sail. This year we are doing far better at keeping the engine hours down.
