Today was the first day, since the start of the trip, with no surprises.

We finally hoisted the gennaker and started sailing at sustained speeds of over 10 knots. It is impressive how the team is growing together and building capabilities: the more we sail together, the better maneuvers are executed. We also managed to fly the drone and take some spectacular videos of the boat whilst sailing: the image of the flaming red gennaker in the vastity of the blue of the sea left us speechless.

After lunch, Nic launched into a sailing lesson with a banana and a spoon, obvious metaphors for the mainsail and the mast (in his mind). He felt the pressure when Mamo (professor of physics at the University of Stockholm) joined the discussion and began discussing varied theories on fluid dynamics.

In the end, another very good day left in the wake.

Oggi è stato il primo giorno, dall'inizio del viaggio, senza sorprese.

Alla fine abbiamo issato il gennaker e abbiamo iniziato a navigare a velocità sostenute di oltre 10 nodi. È sorprendente come il team stia crescendo insieme, aumentando l’abilità di ognuno: più navighiamo insieme, e migliore è l’esecuzione delle manovre. Siamo anche riusciti a girare dei video spettacolari della barca durante la navigazione con il drone: l'immagine del gennaker rosso fiammeggiante nella vastità del blu del mare ci lascia sempre senza parole.

Dopo pranzo, Nic si è lanciato in una lezione di vela con una banana e un mestolo, ovvie metafore della randa e dell'albero (nella sua mente). E’ stata la prima volta che ho notato Nic sentire la pressione quando Mamo (professore di fisica all'Università di Stoccolma) si è unito alla discussione e ha iniziato a discutere varie teorie sulla dinamica dei fluidi.

Alla fine, abbiamo aggiunto alla serie un’altra giornata passata alla grande.
